Lets talk Ammonia Jars!
Ammonia jars also known as "reversal jars" are a form of spell used to reverse a negative or unfavorable situation into a positive or favorable one. The main and active ingredient in ammonia jars is ammonia. Ammonia being a neutralizing and cleaning agent is said to break up negative and stagnant energy to allow positive, free flowing energy.
What is Ammonia
Ammonia is an inorganic chemical compound of Nitrogen and Hydrogen. Ammonia is colorless gas and has a distinct pungent smell. Ammonia is toxic and causes damage to cells and tissues. Urine being high in ammonia can be used in addition to ammonia or to make the spell more personal to the one performing it.
Ammonia jars in Hoodoo and folk magick
Jar spells have a long and rich history in folk magick. Jar spells can sometimes be called witch bottles or spell jars. Early practitioners used sealed containers to trap, repel and deflect negative energy and protect homes. Hoodoo practitioners utilize jars for honey jar spells, sour jars and more. Traditionally practitioners would use urine, which naturally contains ammonia, but over time commercial cleaning products became widely accessible and replaced the use of urine. (Although urine is still a great way to add your personal touch to your own ammonia jar).
How Ammonia Jars work
Ammonia jars work by breaking up the negative and stagnant energy of the targets name and situation written on the petition. The purpose is write the negative situation you are in AS IS! Whatever the blockage or stagnant energy is describe it exactly as is in its negative state. Ex: I have bad luck and nothing is going right for me. I do not have enough money to pay my bills. My loan got denied. The goal is to flip the situation around by turning the jar upside down and reversing the negative statement you wrote. The jar is then placed in a dark, undisturbed place in your home.
Supplies:
Glass Jar ( usually mason jar)
Paper ( brown paper, parchment paper, any paper will do)
Ammonia (Urine if you prefer)
Black marker or sharpie
Write negative situation AS IS in present tense on paper. Ex: I have bad luck and nothing is going right for me. I do not have enough money to pay my bills. My loan got denied). Measure paper to fit around inside of jar. Measure paper before writing petition. Place paper around inside of jar with the words facing inside jar. Optional: You can place a personal item or hair or any personal item of yours inside jar. Fill jar a little over halfway with ammonia to cover petition. You can also mix a little of your urine in jar with ammonia if you want. Seal jar tightly with lid. Flip jar upside down and state your intentions in a positive tense. Ex: Luck follows me everywhere I go. Everything works out in my favor. I am approved for a loan. DO NOT TURN JAR UPRIGHT! LEAVE JAR TURNED UPSIDE DOWN! Place jar in a dark corner preferably in a closet where it will not be disturbed. OPTIONAL: Place a covering or sheet over jar to keep it dark and prevent any light from getting in. Keep jar in corner until situation starts to turn around. Once you are satisfied with your results, retrieve jar from corner and pour ammonia down toilet, outside or in sink.
