Honey Jars: What they are and how to make one
Honey jars, also known as sweetening jars are a staple in magickal traditions, especially in Hoodoo tradition. Honey jars primary use is to sweeten up people and/or situations to work in your favor and have a sweet outcome. Honey jars main activating ingredient is none other than HONEY! Honey being a sweet, slow moving preservative, keeps the intention active over a long period of time.
Honey jars are typically accompanied by a petition that's placed inside the jar and a candle burned on top of the jar lid for extra effectiveness. Honey jars can be worked on over a long period of time by burning a candle on top weekly.

Supplies:
- Glass Mason Jar with lid
- Honey
- Herbs (love herbs for love jar, money herbs for money jar)
- Cinnamon sticks and/or ground Cinnamon
- Sugar (White or Brown Sugar)
- Syrup or Molasses (optional)
- Personal items
- Petition
- Candle (optional)
Clean jar with Florida water or incense smoke. Write and fold petition into a square to fit inside jar. Place herbs, sugar and personal items inside jar. Place petition inside jar. Pour honey into jar. You can also add syrup or molasses. Let jar sit for an hour so honey can penetrate thru herbs and items inside jar. Herbs and contents in jar will sit on top of honey once it all settles. Put lid on jar and close tightly. If you have a candle you can place candle on top of lid and let it burn completely down. Candle will go out on its own once its completely burned down. If your candle is dressed with herbs keep an eye out on candle because herbs can catch fire on top of jar. Chime candles are the best to burn on top of jar but you can also use a tealight candle or glass encased candle if that's all you have on hand. Speak intentions over jar while candle is burning. You can work on jar daily by shaking jar to activate contents inside or burning a candle on top whenever you see fit. You can keep jar as long as you feel is necessary. Some people choose to keep jar sealed and not open anymore as to not disturb energy inside the jar and others choose to continue to add contents. That is a personal preference and everyone is different. Do what feels right for you. Your magic is never wrong for you. When you are ready to discard jar, bury it outside in dirt or dump in a body of water. If either of those are not an option for you simply thank the jar for its work and outcome and discard in trash.
